Happy Father’s Day…
A father isn’t just someone who helps bring children into this world. A father is a protector, a provider, a teacher, a role model, and a leader in his home and community. He’s someone who shows up, not just when it’s convenient, but especially when it’s hard. His love is tough, consistent, and unconditional, and his greatest legacy is not what he leaves behind in material things, but in the character and future of his children.
For Black American fathers, these roles carry an even greater weight. They’re expected to break cycles, conquer obstacles, and raise children who know their worth, their power, and their ability to achieve whatever they put their minds to, regardless of the doubts and pressures that may surround them. Black fathers are called upon to be strong, present, and purposeful, serving not only their own children but future generations by instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, dignity, and unity.
Cedric, you embody all of these things. You’re not just a great dad, you’re a role model for our children and for Black fathers everywhere. You’re always there, cheering them on, guiding them forward, and pushing them to chase their own dreams because you’re living proof that hard work, perseverance, and faith pay off.
Your ability to navigate obstacles and come out on the other side, not only for yourself but for us as a family, shows our children that there’s nothing they can’t achieve if they stay focused and consistent. Thank you for being exactly who they need in their lives, someone strong, loving, and unwilling to give up, no matter how tough things get.
Happy Father’s Day Cedric. We appreciate you, we celebrate you, and we love you deeply.
XOXO Kaye,
